Presenters for the 70th Kōhaku Uta Gassen Announced

The hosts of NHK's '70th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen' (December 31, 19:15 – 23:45 ※ With break for the latest news) have been announced. Comedian Uchimura Teruyoshi will return to host the show for the third consecutive year. He will be joined by actress Ayase Haruka and Arashi member Sakurai Sho.

The theme, 'Yume wo Utaou' (Sing Our Dreams), has remained unchanged since 2016 (67th Kōhaku) in support of the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The '70th Kōhaku' will be the last year this theme will be used.

Sakurai-san is not a bad host but I want to see a non-Johnny's host once in a while.
Having a never-ending stream of Johnny's hosts since 2006 has made the show lose its freshness.

Sakurai-san isn't bad but I don't think he's good enough that NHK would push to use him.
I've always wondered, do they have something against using announcers? I don't see the need to always use talents.

White team host is a singer who will sing for their team, red team host is an actress that won't sing for their team. Why is that? If they don't make it so that both hosts perform on Kōhaku as singers, it feels unfair.

I think it'd be better if the hosts were announcers and the talents and actors, the supporters.
Kōhaku is really important to NHK. I want to watch a Kōhaku with professional announcers that have trained for the moment and with singers that can give a powerful performance. It should be a stage for NHK announcers to show the world what they've got.

Why do the viewers have to watch a Kōhaku that is made for the sake of NHK?
Kōhaku isn't a place for NHK to showcase the employees in their TV station.

I wish they'd just choose an announcer to do the job. Or calm and composed actors like Abe Hiroshi and Amami Yuki. The show is long and content-heavy so it'll be easier to watch if it's someone who can ad-lib.

I like Abe Hiroshi but I don't think he'd be a good host. If you want someone funny and can ad-lib, Oizumi Yo is the person. I'd like to see Team Nacs* try hosting.

I'm a long time Arashi fan but aren't there other people who can host...?
Every year it's Arashi or some other Johnny's talent hosting, there's no sense of freshness.
It's stuck in the same old pattern, I think there are people who have gotten sick of it.
There's a rumour that there's going to be a tribute for Johnny-san...
Can't they do the tribute on some other program instead of pushing it into Kōhaku? Or was Johnny-san really that influential that it's necessary...?

But if Arashi doesn't host this year, what's going to happen next year, in the last Kōhaku before Arashi go on hiatus...? I am torn, to be honest.
