Congratulations. Please work hard.

Nowadays, starring in a Taiga drama isn't something you can be blindly happy about.
Same with Asadoras.
The number of people who watch dramas purely for enjoyment has dropped significantly. There are so many people now who go to Twitter to nitpick and criticise every detail of a drama as if they're pros on the subject. It's extremely unpleasant.
I know that different people have different preferences, so if they said "It doesn't match my tastes!" instead of pretentiously complaining, I would understand. I've started to distance myself from these people.
Good luck to the staff and performers.

With the spread of the new note, will this figure become a relevant character in our national history? Since people tend to shy away from dramas set in the early modern period,* I hope they make this drama one worth watching. Let's try to not criticise it before it starts.
*From the Meiji Restoration to the end of World War II (1868–1945)

Shibusawa Eiichi, huh~ Doesn't seem like his character will be popular with girls. This could be a chance for people to learn about him though...
But I kinda think that Yoshizawa Ryo-kun suits full-on costume dramas more.

5. [+1202 / -85]
On top of being set during the early modern era, which is already a difficult time period to portray, it's about Shibusawa Eiichi too, so economics will be a huge focus. They're fairly restricted in what they can do but if they can make it interesting, that would be really amazing. Please work hard!

I thought that he would be in a Taiga drama eventually. Congratulations.
But because he played Ying Zheng in Kingdom so well, I wish he was playing an autocratic commander in the Warring States period instead.
I do think Shibusawa Eiichi has a vibe of a leader though.

7. [+1030 / -138]
If they want to get good viewership ratings, it would be better if they set it in the Warring states period or at the end of the Edo era but I want to see how this will turn out.

8. [+964 / -141]
I'm surprised he's playing the lead in a Taiga drama before Miura Haruma, Sato Takeru, Takahashi Issei, Suda Masaki and Kubota Masataka. It makes me wonder if the popular actors all turned down the role. Even in terms of popularity, it's still too early for him to be leading a Taiga drama.
I also don't think this is a type of story that can draw in ratings.
Will Yoshizawa-kun be okay?

3. [+1893 / -93]
Will his acting be good enough?

16. [+408 / -19]
>>3
We can only pray.

108. [+414 / -44]
>>3
He's not bad but I don't have an impression of him being good either.

119. [+299 / -80]
>>3
Isn't he one of the better ones out of the younger actors?

4. [+1106 / -66]
Wow!!!

5. [+1470 / -72]
Congratulations! Good luck!

6. [+1040 / -80]
Miura Haruma or Sato Takeru turned down the role?

89. [+31 / -127]
>>6
Leading a Taiga drama at 25 years old.
His senpai have lost~

122. [+650 / -7]
>>6
Miura Haruma said that playing the lead in a Taiga drama was his goal so he wouldn't turn it down.

144. [+610 / -13]
>>6
There's no reason for them to refuse.
It's hard work but I think it's something that any actor would want to do once even if they have to devote everything towards it for one year.

7. [+1534 / -28]
What?!?!
I'm a fan but I did a double take! Taiga?!?!

8. [+1337 / -31]
It's time to show them what you're made of.
Good luck

9. [+1631 / -37]
It's the scriptwriter of Asa ga Kita so I'm expecting good things.

The scriptwriter of Segadon which got poor ratings was Nakazono Miho, who was also the scriptwriter for the Asadora "Hanako to Anne", Doctor X and Yamato Nadeshiko.
Taiga dramas with unpopular subject matter like Idaten, Segadon and Kiyomori are very high risk.
I would like to cheer on Yoshizawa Ryo for having the courage to take on the role despite that.
*Idaten - about the Olympics (1912, 1936, 1964); Segadon - about Takamori Saigo, an important historical figure in the Meiji period; Kiyomori - about Taira no Kiyomori, a military leader in the late Heian period (1100's).

10. [+892 / -18]
I can't imagine how his acting will be after his character grows old.

11. [+1320 / -28]
That's a big responsibility...

12. [+200 / -88]
Congrats!!
I watch Taiga every year so that's one more thing to look forward to.

13. [+1303 / -70]
When I saw him for the first time in Kamen Rider Fourze I was taken aback at how beautiful he was but lately I don't think he's as pretty anymore.
It's not that I've gotten used to seeing his face though... I wonder why

52. [+588 / -22]
>>13
Same.
I think that even more when it's a full body shot.
Maybe it's the same phenomenom as Hashimoto Kanna-chan.

74. [+547 / -45]
>>13
He looks best when he's still and having a good face day.
When he moves he's kinda... unattractive.
He has the figure of a non-celebrity.

133. [+220 / -28]
>>13
You can't win against age. As he gets even older, will he start deteriorating or will he not...

149. [+394 / -37]
>>13
Isn't his face steadily getting bigger and rounder??
The shape of his face is like Anpanman.
And that weird haircut makes it even worse.

14. [+249 / -5]
Are you serious?!

15. [+700 / -4]
Can he act a person in his 50s?!

19. [+748 / -15]
The scriptwriter seems to be right person for the job but...

20. [+99 / -159]
Doesn't he look kind of like Kaji Yuki? He's short and has a round face. He's not handsome.

296. [+27 / -79]
>>20
Never heard the name before but he's a voice actor, right?
LOL they look identical ww

21. [+431 / -9]
Will the viewership ratings be okay?

22. [+708 / -7]
Whaattttt? Surprising. Did NHK take a liking of him?

23. [+1280 / -10]
Tenyou-kun was preparation for this, huh?
*Yoshizawa Ryo's character in Natsuzora (Asadora, 2019)

24. [+933 / -21]
It's Omori Mika, the screenwriter for Kabachitare! and Kaasa*. I'm kind of looking forward to it.
*Asa ga Kita

25. [+1016 / -48]
Hey, the person who gorioshi'ed O-Ryo in the beginning had good eyes.

26. [+495 / -8]
Why? Is he from a big agency?

27. [+612 / -5]
Amuse is incredible

30. [+135 / -2]
Still a long time to go [before it airs].

31. [+276 / -95]
I already have a hunch that that year* will be a visual experience.
*Taiga dramas broadcast for a whole year starting from January.

32. [+1254 / -14]
O-Ryo... has risen to greatness.

33. [+284 / -6]
His big chance has arrived!

34. [+644 / -50]
I thought it would be Kubota Masataka

159. [+174 / -3]
>>34
Maybe he thought that it would be tiring to be in an Asadora and then in a Taiga immediately after.
*Kubota Masataka will star in the 2020 Asadora, Yell

214. [+76 / -1]
>>34
It may start airing in January but they start filming early around Spring so I think the filming schedule will clash if he stars in both.

469. [+138 / -2]
>>34
I thought it would be someone like Sato Takeru w
Yoshitaka Yuriko also seemed likely.

37. [+290 / -63]
Eh... Isn't he too good looking for the character?

38. [+1592 / -16]
Isn't this step up too excessive? The actors in the same generation as him, Sudama and Zakiken*, the actors in an slightly earlier generation than him, Miura Haruma and Sato Takeru, and even actors who are in an even older generation, Oguri Shun and Fujiwara Tatsuya haven't done it yet.
*Suda Masaki and Yamazaki Kento

99. [+412 / -64]
>>38
He's the best looking one but I have the image that he has less fans than all the ones you listed.
He's an actor that doesn't leave much of an impression on you.

39. [+526 / -10]
It's going to be tough if the Taiga isn't a period drama set before the end of the Edo period.

389. [+30 / -1]
>>38
This is probably a period drama spanning across the final years of the Edo period and the Meiji era...

41. [+418 / -12]
So this is the big job he was talking about!! Good luck!!!

43. [+248 / -35]
What???
This news isn't fake?

44. [+552 / -4]
Taiga dramas aren't received well when it's about stuff during the Meiji period and onwards.
I like Idaten* but there are also some people who say that it's not a historical drama*.
They've chosen a pretty risky theme this time.
*Idaten: currently airing Taiga drama, set in 3 time periods, 1912, 1936, and 1964.
