Source: Girls Channel

Are there any manga artists that you think, "Whoa, they're so good at drawing!!"?
I think that Hikaru no Go and Death Note's illustrator Takeshi Obata has really beautiful and amazing artwork.

The art style of the first volume and the last volume of Hikaru no Go is quite different.
It started looking more and more like his drawing style in Death Note.

OP here. To be honest, if I was asked whether the art was good in the beginning I would be reluctant to say yes but his art quickly improved with every volume, the art in the later half of the series is seriously beautiful, the coloured pages are also gorgeous.

It's beautiful down to the very fine details. The drawing angles/perspectives are also perfectly planned out, so when I saw Attack on Titan I thought my eyes were screwing up lol

2. [+221 / -97]
Togashi

20. [+19 / -19]
>>2
Do you seriously think that? Okay, I guess he used to be...

43. [+430 / -14]
>>20
You can tell he has excellent drawing skills even when you just look at his rough sketches
It's just that he doesn't draw seriously most of the time.

382. [+2 / -0]
>>2
There's a world of difference between when he tries and when he doesn't.

3. [+1014 / -35]
Toriyama Akira

87. [+212 / -9]
>>7
It's the sort of art you see everywhere.
It's not particularly good or anything.

121. [+107 / -11]
>>7
I don't see the difference between this and Yabuki's* art

Kishimoto Masashi is an art school graduate so he's seriously good at drawing.

10. [+525 / -17]
Good manga drawing skills or more precisely, good at using space
Toriyama Akira, Kishimoto Masashi
Also, I think Horikoshi Kohei is good at character design too.

11. [+351 / -24]
Tezuka Osamu of course!

12. [+65 / -140]
Hoshino Katsura-san. It's a shame that her art style is inconsistent but I think she has really good drawing skills.

118. [+14 / -1]
>>12
She's good, no doubt, but her drawings have turned sparkly lately, it's hard to look at.

13. [+316 / -5]
There are loads but... AKIRA just so happens to be in front of me right now, so I'll give Otomo Katsuhiro my vote.

14. [+896 / -54]
The colouring is brilliant too.

15. [+648 / -18]
Ito Junji. The way he draws monsters is incredible, and his normal female and male characters are pretty.

68. [+72 / -3]
>>15
The way he draws his characters, beautiful, normal looking, ugly, is so realistic!
I think he's the best manga artist in the world.

16. [+245 / -5]
If it's only about drawing skills, Murata Yusuke.

35. [+431 / -4]
>>16
He drew this when he was eight.

147. [+128 / -0]
>>35
WHAT?!!!

174. [+64 / -0]

Artist of One Punch Man and Eyeshield 21, Murata Yusuke

150. [+29 / -4]
>>18
I've never read or seen One Punch Man before but I was surprised to hear that it was the same mangaka.

I thought that One Punch Man was drawn by the same person who draws Mob Psycho.

19. [+57 / -13]
Samura Hiroaki*
*Blade of the Immortal

20. [+285 / -22]
Mori Kaoru
Person who drew Emma and Otoyomegatari etc
Her drawings are so amazing. I can stare at it forever.

26. [+461 / -36]

39. [+288 / -5]
>>21
There's a good balance between stylised and realistic.
I also like the way she draws animals.

151. [+45 / -2]
>>21
I still can't believe she draws everything by herself. You can tell that she loves drawing!

22. [+86 / -8]
When a manga artist becomes popular, they leave most of the work to their assistants so you can't say anything unless you look at their drawings before they became popular.
Lately, there are also lots of manga artists who digitally trace over photos or famous pictures.

23. [+91 / -64]
Ishida Sui's Tokyo Ghoul

25. [+4 / -89]

27. [+496 / -79]
I think it's amazing how Oda Eiichiro can turn people into fans with just one picture. I would never be able to think up compositions like that.

28. [+26 / -5]

Children of the Whales
The story is dark but the artwork is beautiful and unique, which surprised me

31. [+17 / -57]

*Touch, Cross Game

33. [+217 / -3]
>>31
Having an unchanging art style is also applaudable.
It's really hard for someone's drawing style to stay exactly the same.

34. [+1112 / -17]
Toriyama Akira!
The build of living beings, the detail in the machinery is amazing!!

96. [+155 / -1]
>>34
The designs for the animals he creates are cute too.

164. [+59 / -0]
>>34
Wow. The left side looks like it's sinking from the weight.

177. [+112 / -0]
>>34
He's really good at grasping the characteristics of each object and thing, and cartoonifying them.
Even though it's really detailed, it's not hard to look at. The designs of self-created vehicles and machines are stylish and lovely.

36. [+8 / -162]

38. [+778 / -20]
