Kingdom, the live-action adaptation of the popular manga by Hara Yasuhisa, has become a blockbuster hit, with a box office revenue of over 3.5 billion yen in just 18 days after its release. It garnered excitement from even those who did not know the original work. You could say that one of the main factors of its success is the movie's great replay value. In particular, the performances of the leading actor Yamazaki Kento, Yoshizawa Ryo, Nagasawa Masami, Hongo Kanata, Osawa Takao, and other cast members, brought out a great response. Hashimoto Kanna, who plays one of the most popular characters—He Liao Diao (Japanese: Ka Ryō Ten), a descendant of a mountain tribe who disguises herself as a bird and wears a strange straw raincoat—is no exception.
The movie covers the first five volumes of the manga, up until the end of the "Cheng Jiao (Sei Kyō) Rebellion Arc". Set in China's Warring States period*, Xin (Yamazaki)—a young war orphan who dreams of becoming a "Great General of the Heavens"—and the young king Ying Zheng (Yoshizawa) set out to reclaim Zheng's throne after it is usurped by his younger brother (Hongo). He Liao Diao (Hashimoto) aids Xin and Ying Zheng in their plight and fights together with them, Hashimoto plays an important character. At the beginning of the manga, it is not made clear whether the character is male or female. Hashimoto revealed that she kept the character's "boyishness" in mind while playing the role.

A vital part of playing He Liao Diao is the full-head mask she wears to imitate a bird. The costume was said to be as heavy as armour, and the heavily feathered head mask was especially heavy. For action scenes, a way was devised to move to make it look more comical. In this work dominated with masculine energy, they thought it was important to express the unique sweetness of He Liao Diao's character.
People went on social media to voice their approval of the casting: "I can't think of anyone but Hashimoto Kanna [to play He Liao Diao]", "the person who decided to cast Hashimoto-san as He Liao Diao is amazing". Many felt that Hashimoto had a soothing presence: "too cute", "her voice and gestures are cute", "a steady cuteness". The result is a perfect match between the mysterious and unique character, He Liao Diao, and wide-eyed innocence of Hashimoto.

She was born into "Shi Yū" (Chi You), the female assassin group who are known as the god summoners, so someone without physical abilities can't play her.
In the manga, "Ka Ryō Ten" (He Liao Diao) takes the strategist route, and Gyō Kai shows up in front of Xin's party as a female strategist.
