Agency in dire straits after losing Horikita Maki and Kiritani Mirei. Many managers resigning

Sweet Power, the agency that churned out stars such as Horikita Maki (30), Kuroki Meisa (31) and Kiritani Mirei (29), and was once called the "Female Johnny's", is facing a crisis.

The tide turned for Sweet Power when Horikita Maki married in 2015 and retired in 2017. The agency was in a huge panic after losing their cash cow. "They desperately promoted other actresses on TV stations." (Entertainment reporter)

Furthermore, Kiritani announced her marriage last year in July. Kiritani wished to restrict her amount of work after marriage. She resigned from NEWS ZERO, and has accepted almost no acting jobs since then.

After losing two of their biggest earners, managers have been quitting one after another. According to an Entertainment reporter:

"At Sweet Power's peak, they would have had around 20 to 30 managers. I imagine that ten have quit in this year. After all they haven't produced any actresses that can fill Horikita or Kiritani's shoes..."

When a higher-up of Sweet Power was asked about it, they said:
"One manager did quit in July but some people are cut out for the job and some people aren't. Isn't it the same everywhere?"

They've forgotten how they got there in the first place.
They're not making desperate efforts to scout talents
Every other agency is doing it, but this agency hasn't been training up newcomers, they're busy focusing on only their popular talents instead.

But the managers who quit are useless too.
They should think of this as a chance for themselves, and work hard to scout and make their talent popular. If they don't have the dedication to do that, they're seriously just failures.

It should be easy for a production agency as big as them.
With other agencies, it's hard to even get jobs for newcomers
So I don't understand why those managers would quit

Not realising that you're blessed is a luxury.
They should try raising a talent from the ground up with no resources.
That was the sort of agency Sweet Power was in the beginning.

The president of this company constantly travels all the country to scout new talents though. They often joke on TV that she's never at the office.
I think she's an amazingly energetic and proactive company president.

Why don't they bring out Uchiyama Rina again?

3. [+1130 / -5]
True, I haven't seen Kiritani Mirei lately.

4. [+51 / -179]
Kiritani-san is cuter

70. [+21 / -26]

I like Kiritani better too but on Girls Channel there are lots of people who hate her husband & Horikita worshippers, so it's risky to say it w

5. [+1047 / -6]
Kuroki Meisa's TV appearances decreased after marriage too.

6. [+1172 / -15]
Horikita Maki retired two years after she married?
I thought she retired the same time she got married.

12. [+434 / -5]

There were contracts and stuff.
Since it was a quick marriage.

34. [+68 / -]9

Isn't it because she didn't have any jobs during those two years?

118. [+141 / -2]
>>6
It's because she had CM contracts (probably 2 year contracts). She retired after those contracts ended.

7. [+307 / -9]
Those two were popular.

8. [+745 / -11]
Their acting was lacking but they had the charisma.

9. [+213 / -47]
They should just hire Minowa Haruka.

11. [+1001 / -38]
Kiritani Mirei probably wants to have baby too.
I bet it will be cute.

13. [+576 / -95]
I can understand with Horikita Maki but I don't have the impression of Kiritani Mirei being that big of a moneymaker.

62. [+115 / -21]
>>13
I don't think they're that different?
Lots of Girl Channel citizens are Horikita fans and Kiritani haters so you get upvotes and downvotes that convey that but

I don't remember Horikita Maki being an actress that could draw in ratings either. It seems she had dramas that were axed too.

14. [+949 / -30]
Horikita Maki, Kuroki Meisa and Kiritani Mirei have good faces but they're all ham actresses.
They're bad at training them up, aren't they?

29. [+22 / -17]
>>14
I thought Kuroki Meisa was good in the Lupin live-action

15. [+725 / -38]
I think that cleanly leaving the entertainment like Horikita is really good.

Right, Ohama-san?

17. [+742 / -10]
It's true that no one really stands out.

24. [+463 / -7]
>>17
Even Kuroki Meisa, huh...
All of their popular actresses got married quickly.
You don't see that many getting married in other agencies~
Maybe their agency is lenient

41. [+183 / -9]
>>17
I like Takatsuki Sara so I hope she gets popular.

65. [+194 / -5]
>>17
They have such pretty talents yet they aren't popular. Must be tough out there.
As expected, timing is important.

18. [+397 / -7]
It's hard because they don't have anyone that stands out.

*Top to bottom, left to right: Uchiyama Rina, Kuroki Meisa, Kiritani Mirei, Sakuraba Nanami, Takatsuki Sara, Jiyoung, Kawashima Ririka, Matsukaze Risaki, Nagami Rea, Takeuchi Aisa, Nao Minamisawa, Matsuyama Mary

25. [+621 / -14]
>>18
I wonder why Sakuraba Nanami and Minamisawa Nao aren't being promoted? Takeuchi Aisa is lively and cute so they should promote her more!

19. [+295 / -1]
Come to think of it, Kiritani Mirei was on ZERO. I forgot.

21. [+466 / -10]
The entertainment world itself is already starting to die.
These days it's all about Youtubers, TicTokers or Instagramers. lol

22. [+432 / -44]
Most of their male talents have the same vibe, all lacklustre...
*Takasugi Mahiro, Araki Towa, Matsudai Koya, Okada Kenshi, Moriyama Aki

38. [+228 / -5]
>>22
Huh?! I recognise quite a few of them...

38. [+211 / -4]
>>22
Is that the psychopathic son in Anata no Ban desu?!

51. [+399 / -14]
>>22
There's
・Takasugi Mahiro-kun who has been quite active lately
・The psychopath character in Anata no Ban desu
・Arimura Kasumi's partner in Chugakusei Nikki

Their male talents might have promise.

23. [+568 / -10]
Right now they're gorioshi-ing Takasugi Mahiro and Okada Kenshi, right?

26. [+463 / -7]
I'm envious of Kiritani Mirei's life ~\(>_<)/

She's cute, smart, is a successful celebrity, married a handsome (personal opinion) actor, and can even afford to do less work

Ahh~~ I'm so envious!!!!!

27. [+250 / -26]
Then they should employ me. I'm confident that I'll be popular, for sure.

30. [+22 / -189]
Why don't they take Gouriki, who's standing on the edge of a cliff, and train her up?

31. [+479 / -15]
Does this agency force its talents to diet until they become skin and bones?
When Horikita Maki was in Nobuta, she wasn't this skinny
She returned to normal after she quit.
Kiritani Mirei is also worryingly skinny.
Is it an agency policy?

105. [+44 / -6]
>>31
Actresses and idols in every agency are skin and bones w

33. [+261 / -10]
How many people in this agency have had plastic surgery?
Horikita Maki and Kiritani Mirei haven't changed much.

35. [+258 / -11]
The boys are few in number but are made up of the best.
Work hard from now on!

36. [+460 / -22]
It's because the agency pushed Jiyoung for a period of time w

The agency doesn't have any sense to begin with.
Making an actress with broken Japanese to appear in a Japanese drama is pushing it too much. When they can't understand something as obvious as that, it's not surprising that they've turned into this.

40. [+423 / -3]
Their top three talents married by force and reduced their work to the absolute minimum.
It makes me wonder if the agency exploits them so much they escape by marriage and don't want to come back.

46. [+254 / -8]
>>40
Now that you mention it, people suspected that she had a fight with her company because of that.
There were rumours that she quit because her agency overworked her too much (black company) and wouldn't listen to her when she protested.

78. [+178 / -9]
>>46
I wonder why she was treated so badly...
Her looks and popularity were top class and she didn't have a bad image either. Why did they make her commute by herself on the Shinkansen? Someone revealed that at an awards ceremony, they saw her all alone in the green room, with no assistants/managers.

86. [+48 / -9]
>>78
Don't a lot of agencies get their talents go by themselves?
For example, for location shoots/filming, a manager goes along with them in case anything happens but for magazine shoots a lot of people just go alone.

87. [+177 / -7]
>>78
It's because Meisa is the president's favourite.
She made Horikita Maki clean up Meisa's mess

88. [+96 / -10]
>>78
She's pretty aloof when she interacts with her co-stars. Maybe she likes being alone?

100. [+73 / -4]
>>78
Horikita had a staff blog so she should've had several managers.
