King & Prince are in the middle of their arena tour "King & Prince Concert Tour 2019". On August 3 and 4, they held their concert at the Osaka-jo Hall. However, a portion of fans took issue with the excessive amount of dirty jokes during the MC segment (intermission) of the concert.

"The concert held on August 4 at the Osaka-jo Hall has come up in conversation the most. The five members apparently decided beforehand that they would each say a line/joke with 'implicit s*xual undertones' for their greetings in the first half of the concert. These included, 'I'll give you my first time' (Jinguji Yuta) and 'It's midday but can I embrace you?' (Hirano Sho).

During the MC, Nagase Ren asked Jinguji what he meant by 'My first time'. Jinguji answered, 'Around here' and explained by drawing a large circle that encompassed the lower half of his body. In regards to Hirano's 'Can I embrace you?' Hirano apparently said 'Go into bed...' and acted out lying [in bed] face down.

Nagase asked Kishi, who said 'Konchikuwa'* during the greetings, 'How is that a dirty joke?' Kishi answered, 'Chikuwa is the dirty joke', 'Put a cucumber into a chikuwa...' The MC developed into a talk with heavy innuendo, 'Ate my chikuwa during catering' (Hirano), 'Was Sho's chikuwa yummy?' 'What size was it?' (Nagase)."

*Play on the greeting Konnichiwa (hello); chikuwa is cylindrical jelly-like food product with a hollow center.

Halfway through the MC, possibly because their heads had cooled, Jinguji said, "If Marius was here, he would flip out." According to some concert reports, they brought up Seᶍy Zone's Marius Yo, who is nicknamed "Public Morals Committee member," and put an end to their indecent talk.

Many fans reacted positively to their off-colour humour. Online responses included:

  • "It was adorable seeing how hyped up Kinpuri got saying dirty jokes."
  • "Kinpuri's somewhat dirty jokes during the MC made me clap my hands and laugh my ass off."
  • "I laughed so hard hearing them crack dirty jokes one after the other. They felt like high school boys, it felt like I was listening to how Kinpuri talk in everyday life. I loved it."

There were also many negative responses from concert goers and people who read reports about the concert.

  • "They have fans of all ages, including kids, this is overkill. I'm fed up with seeing so many concerts reports about them saying dirty jokes ."
  • "I went to the two Osaka concerts and in both they kept telling dirty jokes. Since they're here, I wish they had talked more about what they did in Osaka instead."
  • "I don't like it when people try to be funny using crude humour. I hope they will be told off by an adult this time"
  • "I wonder if Kinpuri can only hype up the crowd by saying dirty jokes. That's a bit worrying."
  • "I'm going with my parents so please stop making dirty jokes. I don't want to feel awkward when I'm attending the concert."
  • "The MC was fun but I'm sad that when people talk about their impressions, they only talk about the dirty jokes."

"I heard that during the Osaka concerts last year, King & Prince also talked about bath episodes which involved the lower half of the body. Nagase revealed that Hirano aimed the shower head at 'his KING' (?). They also likened Iwahashi Genki's privates to a tsuchinoko* because no one has seen it before. Although the youngest member Takahashi Kaito stopped the older members when they went too far, they were criticised by some fans at that time too:
*Tsuchinoko: mythical snake-like creature whose existence is unsubstantiated, like the yeti

    • "Seal up the s*xual talk during the MC."
    • "Kinpuri's MC make me feel really uncomfortable. Are dirty jokes the only method they know to make the audience laugh?"

Maybe they accidentally went overboard because the Osakan concert goers are 'good at playing along.'"
    — Same well-informed journalist

Iwahashi Genki went on hiatus last November to treat his panic disorder. Given the present situation, fans have said:

    • "I wonder if Iwachi was their dirty joke stopper up until now."
    • "The only person who can stop their dirty jokes is Iwachi. Please hurry up and come back."
    • "If Genki-kun was here and heard them tell so many dirty jokes, he would say, 'You guys are the worst.'"
    • "Whenever Kinpuri goes on a dirty joke rampage, I think, if only Genki-kun was here."

Some have pointed out that perhaps that Nagase and Hirano's off-colour jokes were aggravated due to Iwahashi's absence.

    So trashy it's disgusting

    3. [+2379 / -46]
    They're desperate.

    4. [+4020 / -45]
    Simply gross

    5. [+2557 / -72]
I had the impression that Johnny-wotas liked this sort of thing.

    6. [+3298 / -14]
    Like middle school boys.

    7. [+5181 / -21]
It was more vulgar than I expected w

    8. [+2661 / -31]
    Gross!
    They're like middle school boys

    9. [+3259 / -21]
Keep your stupid talk in the locker room (laugh)

    11. [+1472 / -18]
Are there actually people who are happy to hear that sort of talk?

    12. [+2722 / -25]
If there were just adults there, then it's fine, but I feel sorry for any kids that were there.

    13. [+2273 / -19]
    Hmm
They probably thought that fans would be happy but it might be a bit crude.

    14. [+2814 / -16]
They have no common sense if they think they can pull off a concert MC with just crude humour.
It just makes you want to cringe... 🐧

    15. [+1331 / -40]
Kinpuri caters to fujoshi too much, not my cup of tea

    42. [+1331 / -40]
    >>15
When Takahashi Kaito said that romantic relationships within the group are banned, I was so put off. That's pandering to the fujoshis way too much.
Cracking dirty jokes continuously at their concert, I never imagined that they were such a vulgar group.

    16. [+52 / -318]
    Kinpuri's funny

    17. [+1284 / -57]
Idols telling dirty jokes is out of the question.

    20. [+648 / -11]
    *long silence*

    21. [+2149 / -12]
I don't really get it but if they're supposed to say lines with "implicit s*xual undertones", isn't "Can I embrace you?" way too direct?

    22. [+724 / -21]
    I'm just put off.

    23. [+1524 / -11]
Since girls are their target audience, they should think about what is okay to say and what is not.

Especially since their fans aren't just adults, they probably have elementary and middle school fans too...

    26. [+573 / -20]
Feels like middle school boys who are trying their hardest to be part of the popular group.

    27. [+958 / -31]
Even though they're idols, they are still boys in their twenties. That's all they have in their heads w

    28. [+487 / -34]
The idol business has reached rock bottom too, huh. So these are the idols nowadays.

    29. [+858 / -8]
Even though it's not even his "first time"

    30. [+1417 / -12]
    That chikuwa-cucumber part is disgusting.

    31. [+575 / -16]
Jun-kun didn't teach them how to emcee?

    32. [+1302 / -15]
They're selling themselves as sparkly prince characters so it seems even grosser.
If Kanjani said the exact same thing, I'd find it funny but this sort of thing simply doesn't tie with King & Prince's image.

    232. [+217 / -22]
    >>32
It's gross even if it's Kanjani
They're old men well into their thirties.

    35. [+606 / -11]
Were they forced by the upper management? I'll be seriously put off if the members were enthusiastically telling dirty jokes.

They talked about how they were told off by the upper management last year [because of their dirty jokes].

    38. [+455 / -23]
There are lots of Johnny-wotas that get excited over dirty jokes so won't low class fans enjoy it?
A normal person would be really grossed out though.

    39. [+1059 / -20]
Sekuzo has lots of dirty jokes in their concerts too. Kenty makes dirty jokes too. His "Did you get wet just now?" was disgusting.

    45. [+195 / -5]
    >>39
Wasn't that on some radio show?

    56. [+549 / -20]
    >>39
    Gross...
Only the elegant and righteous Marius can give me peace of mind.

    364. [+205 / -7]
    >>56
Marius-kun (19) has recently learnt how to tell dirty jokes, he kept saying the word "poop" on his radio show.

It's a bit childish for his age but it's only on his radio show. You could say that his mouth is functioning well.

    40. [+589 / -27]
I admit that Kinpuri are good-looking but they're kinda vulgar. They seem dumb.

    41. [+866 / -8]
Girls wouldn't laugh hearing that chikuwa joke, right?

    46. [+481 / -3]
YOU guys, don't tell dirty jokes~

    47. [+440 / -11]
It's a crucial time for them right now but it feels like they messed up.

    48. [+578 / -7]
I looked it up on Twitter. Is this the chikuwa conversation?
    Super indecent MC talk
The general idea was to say something that sounds like a borderline dirty joke. Kishi-kun used the word "chikuwa"
Nagase: "Is that a dirty joke?"
Hirano: "Kishi-kun, you ate my chikuwa, right?!"
Nagase: "You ate Sho's chikuwa? How was it?"
Jinguji: "Oi, that's an out (lol)"
    Nagase: "How was it size-wise?"
Takahashi: "Ren is on a rampage!!!"

    49. [+468 / -9]
    They seem dumb

    50. [+754 / -15]
Because of their group name and debut song, they had a clean prince-like image.
It's a shame because they finally managed to form a group with all handsome members.

    52. [+282 / -2]
You're working hard in the wrong direction!

    53. [+521 / -8]
They have pretty faces but they're still normal kids inside.

But for their age, their jokes are pretty childish w

    55. [+514 / -36]
People who hate crude humour should become JUMP fans
Yamada hates it so the group has never told a single dirty joke.

    78. [+205 / -7]
    >>55
The person who hates crude humour is Yaotome
Don't try to casually promote Yamada.

    57. [+572 / -3]
"Put a cucumber into a chikuwa..."
    "Ate my chikuwa during catering"
    "Was Sho's chikuwa yummy?"
    "What size was it?"
