B'z ranked first on Oricon's "Heisei 30 Years Ranking: Artist Sales", with total sales of 82,624,000 (Singles: 35,969,000 / Albums: 46,655,000).

The TOP 5 are: In second place, AKB48. Third place: Mr. Children. Fourth place: Hamasaki Ayumi. And fifth place: Dreams Come True.

1. [+6620 / -216]
Only second place is strange.

2. [+6420 / -179]
Please exclude AKB, who treat CD's as the freebie, from the ranking.

3.  [+3832 / -136]
Make a ranking that excludes handshake tickets.

[+39 / -5]
I feel bad for the artist in 11th place.

4.  [+2163 / -58]
So that means B'z is number one and Mr. Children is the real number two.

5.  [+2163 / -58]
B'z do their duty as artists and battle with the quality of their music but AKB adds handshake tickets to increase their sales. As a result, we've been left with achievements that don't reflect true ability. That's why they're being bashed.

6.  [+2037 / -30]
Exclude sales from handshake tickets.

7.  [+1903 / -35]
I think it's amazing that they still sold more than AKB who have been bundling sėxᴜαl services into their releases.

8.  [+1805 / -40]
This is supposed to be a legitimate ranking but second place looks so out of place.

9.  [+1429 / -38]
Let's change second place

10.  [+1318 / -32]
They continue to constantly sell well so I understand number one.
AKB's sales probably come from the same people bulk buying for handshake tickets and bonus goods.

Oricon Heisei Ranking: Heisei's number-one hit song is SMAP's "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana". Sales exceed 3 million copies after their break-up.

Source: Oricon, Yahoo! News Japan

SMAP's single "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana (Single Version)" ranked first on Oricon's "Heisei 30 Years Single Ranking". The single has cumulatively sold 3,128,000 million copies.

The singles's sales began to grow again after news of SMAP's dissolution was revealed in January 2016, and on 1 February 2016, the single re-entered the top ten (Oricon Singles Chart) for the first time in twelve years. Furthermore, when the group's disbandment was confirmed in August 2016, the single began to break the highest selling singles records.

On 7 November, it became the fifth highest selling single in history, and on 28 November, it became the third highest selling single. On 19 December 2016, it became the first and only single in the Heisei era, and third single in Oricon history to sell over 3 million copies.

The TOP 5 are: In second place, Southern All Stars' "Tsunami" (2,936,000 cumulative sales). Third place, Hayami Kentaro, Shigemori Ayumi, Himawari Kids, and Dango Gasshodan's "Dango 3 Kyodai" (2,918,000 cumulative sales). Fourth place, Kome Kome Club's "Kimi ga Iru Dake / Aishiteru" (2,895,000 cumulative sales). And fifth place, Chage & Aska's "Say Yes" (2,822,000 cumulative sales).

1.  [+5081 / -150]
It's because SMAP sang the the song, that makes it so important.
Congratulations on the 3 million sales.

2.  [+4254 / -126]
It's sad that we won't get to see them sing together ever again.

3.  [+3822 / -151]
In English, Reiwa means beautiful harmony
The fact that the five members of SMAP who conquered the Heisei era will be the most indispensable part of entertainment in Japan in the Reiwa era as well, is amazing.
They surpassed everything...
*When the new era name Reiwa was announced, the prime minister said that "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" could be said to be the representative of the Heisei era, and the bridge to the Reiwa era.

4.  [+2037 / -56]
SMAP is, without a doubt, the representative group of the Heisei era.

5.  [+1837 / -59]
"Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" is a truly popular song.
When SMAP sings it, it's even more moving.
Each and every person is different and wonderful, if we gather together, we'll become an even more overwhelmingly wonderful bouquet*.
*Lyrics from "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana".

6.  [+1828 / -84]
Three of the people who sang the song that sold the most in Heisei have been erased from the air waves. Who would believe you if you said you didn't speculate about this? I'm fed up with being forced to watch those boring over-pushed Johnny's talents [instead of SMAP]. I want the Japan Fair Trade Commission to do a thorough investigation.

7.  [+1818 / -86]
Will SMAP ever reunite?
I want to hear them sing together again.

8.  [+1447 / -51]
I think it's good that "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" wasn't a love song. It was the theme song for Tsuyopon's* drama but the lyrics didn't use words like "like" and "I love you", and that, surprisingly, also suited the drama.
*Kusanagi Tsuyoshi

The majority of hit songs in the world are simple love songs that center around love between men and women. In spite of this, Makihara Noriyuki didn't write "Sekai ni Hitotsu no Hana" as a love song. I think this is the main reason it became such a hit and was so widely accepted by everyone.

In the words of Makihara Noriyuki: This song is already a "SMAP" song. It goes without saying that it became a big hit because "SMAP" sang it.

9.  [+1460 / -86]
It's an extremely magnificent song. And it was because SMAP sang it that it became such a big hit.

That's completely true, but it's also because "Boku no Ikiru Michi", the drama which "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" is the theme song for, was excellent.

I still can't forget Kusanagi Tsuyoshi-san's performance as someone going through great hardships.

If there wasn't that drama, and "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" had just been released as a normal single, I don't think it would have sold this much.

10.  [+1377 / -70]
I don't think it would've sold this much if Makihara Noriyuki had released it.

Oricon Heisei Ranking: Heisei's number-one hit album is Utada Hikaru's "First Love". With over 7 million copies sold, it holds the highest sales record in history.

Source: Oricon, Yahoo! News Japan

Utada Hikaru's Album "First Love" ranked first on Oricon's "Heisei 30 Years Album Ranking", with a record 7,672,000 cumulative sales. Since Oricon's inception, it remains the highest ever selling work (single and album).

The TOP 5 are: In second place, B'z "B'z The Best "Pleasure"" (5,136,000 cumulative sales). Third place, GLAY's "Review: Best of GLAY" (4,876,000 cumulative sales). Fourth place, Utada Hikaru's "Distance" (4,472,000 cumulative sales). And fifth place, B'z "B'z The Best "Treasure"" (4,439,000 cumulative sales).

1. [+262 / -11]
A great variety of music genres experienced growth in the Heisei era. Will we see an artist with a 7 million selling album in the Reiwa era, I wonder? I want to hold out hope. Of course, as long as you don't use AKB's business methods, physical sales will decrease, and digital sales will probably become the norm. But even then, I can't imagine that an artist of Utada Hikaru's calibre will ever appear again.

2. [+244 / -18]
7 million is amazing. I'm sure that after this, it's impossible [to break this record] even if someone like Yonezu Kenshi tries his hardest. It's sad but the present era isn't one where we buy albums and CDs after all.

3. [+193 / -7]
Compared to back then, I think the opportunity to hear popular songs while walking down the street has decreased dramatically. It's sad. JASRAC*...
*Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers, the largest musical copyright administration in Japan.

4. [+99 / -4]
Everyone I know owns a copy. Utada Hikaru's debut era was truly sensational.
She has a lot of great songs!

5. [+52 / -1]
Even now, I still listen to 'First Love'! It never gets old.
Compared to the past, I seriously think that Japan's music has moved backwards.
Not only music, the same can be said for movies, television, and entertainment in general.

6. [+82 / -2]
This record probably won't ever be beaten, will it?
