For Golden Week, 100 amusement park goers (Male/Female) were asked the question, "What is the most disappointing amusement park you have been to?"

Which will come at the top of the list?

5th LEGOLAND® Japan

image

LEGOLAND® Japan is a theme park where you come in contact and build LEGO®Blocks and LEGO® Models. People were apparently dissatisfied with the non-LEGO® attractions.

"Considering its high entrance fee, the theme park felt rather small. The food and souvenirs were also expensive." Part-timer from Osaka (37)"

"Other than the LEGO® builds, it's all rides that you can find anywhere." Housewife from Osaka (39)

5th Toshimaen

Tied at 5th place is this amusement park, where you can also enjoy the wonders of swimming pools, outdoor ice skating rinks, and even fish pond fishing. It's a place that may not be cut out for certain people.

"It has lots of thrill rides, it's the worst possible theme park for a scaredy cat like me." Female Part-timer from Akita (45)

"It's a popular theme park even now and there's somehow a nostalgic retro atmosphere to it. It might not be suited for people who like current and new things." Female Company Employee from Tokyo (49)

4th Tokyo DisneySea

image

Tokyo DisneySea, a theme park inspired by tales and legends of the sea. It appears that many feel it is lacking in comparison to Tokyo Disneyland.

"It might be good for people who hate rides but it's so overly calm and relaxing, it feels like something is missing." Part-timer from Shizuoka (45)

"The concept of DisneySea when it first opened was that it was a theme park that even adults can enjoy. It was graceful and relaxing, but the events in recent years have been orientated for kids and teenagers. It has now become a park for youngsters." Housewife from Ibaraki (34)

"I hardly ever meet the characters. It was less of a Disney World experience than I expected." Company Employee from Okinawa (33)

3th Universal Studios Japan

image

Universal Studios Japan is a theme park, with famous Hollywood movie themed rides and shows, that kids and even adults can enjoy. There appears to be many people who wish for more variation in not only the shows, but the rides too.

"To start off, the ticket is expensive. On crowded days, you can't enjoy the attractions unless you have an express ticket but the express tickets are also expensive. I often go to Disneyland so I see no appeal in the shows and parades." Female Company Employee from Miyagi (23)

"I went with my kids but there are very few attractions suited for kids." Housewife from Hokkaido (40)

"I had to wait a very long time for a single attraction. Also, almost all the rides spray water on you." Temporary Employee from Fukui (26)

"The attractions themselves aren't bad but it's very noisy." Housewife from Nara (37)

"The tour bus ride was silent and unexciting. The food was expensive but it wasn't very tasty..." Female Company Employee from Tokyo (26)

2nd Sanrio Puroland

image

An indoor communication park where you can meet your favourite characters. People appeared to have complaints with the non-Sanrio character attractions.

"The non-show attractions were all boring, I only had a look around [and left]." Female Company Employee from Chiba (51)

"Despite the long waiting time, the attractions were boring. Unless you're interested in the shows, you might not be able to enjoy it at all. We went because my eldest daughter wanted to go but my eldest son and second son kept saying, 'Let's go home.'" Housewife from Chiba (35)

"There were less attractions than I thought. The attractions are all quiet so there's no noise and doesn't feel lively and bustling. It's a place for people to buy character goods." Housewife from Kanagawa (42)

"I like Sanrio so I was able to enjoy it to a certain degree but a lot of the attractions were intended for kids, it felt lacking." Female Company Employee from Yamagata (31)

1st Tokyo Disneyland

And in first place is Tokyo Disneyland, which needs no introduction. Its main reason being because of its congestion due to its popularity. It appears the weather influences whether it's good or bad.

"It was raining and windy the day I went so most of the rides were closed. I couldn't enjoy myself." Female Part-timer from Tochigi (41)

"Because it was crowded, they weren't selling same day tickets, I couldn't get in." Male Company Employee from Kanagawa (49)

"The waiting time for the attractions is no joke. It's exhausting." Housewife from Aichi (36)

"I spent most of the time waiting, and rode on almost no rides. I just "went" and that's how the day ended." Female from Hokkaido (26)

"To be frank, it's not a place for an old man over 50 to go. On top of the food being expensive, it's mostly sweets and nothing but sweet stuff. I couldn't eat anything." Male Manager from Miyagi (54)

You'll probably get the same results if you asked the reverse, "which is best theme park?" This article has no substance.

2. [+4447 / -310]
It's good that 100 people were interviewed but they're mostly answers from people in their 30s and 40s. There was even someone who said they couldn't get in. Shouldn't you have left that answer out? I want to ask, "Then, what sort of theme park will satisfy you?" "A place that's empty, with lots of rides, and fun," you say?! That kind of place doesn't exist. Work hard and become a president, and go reserve the whole park.

I think many people will get very offended reading this. What was the point of this article?
This looks like an article written to stir people up and promote the news company, LIMO. But rather than presenting itself as a good news company, I feel that it has produced the opposite effect.

The article was a disappointment.

"It was raining and windy the day I went so most of the rides were closed. I couldn't enjoy myself."
Please check the weather forecast

"Because it was crowded, they weren't selling same day tickets, I couldn't get in."
Buy a ticket in advance

"To be frank, it's not a place for an old man over 50 to go. On top of the food being expensive, it's mostly sweets and nothing but sweet stuff. I couldn't eat anything."
Yeah, it might not be a place for an old man over 50 to be going.

What's with this article?

Even if the theme park is popular, it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone can enjoy it. If you can't handle thrill rides and you go to an amusement park with lots of thrill rides, then of course you can't have fun. That's what I thought when I read it.

A lady I know who is around 50 went to Disneyland for the first time, and said in a loud voice, "I'm never coming here again." To begin with, there's no way a person at that age people who has never been to Disneyland can have fun without researching beforehand. There's something wrong with people who only criticise without knowing that you need to make some effort to enjoy something in order to enjoy yourself. She even said bluntly, "I can't understand why people would come here multiple times." This [article] is the result you'll get when you survey those types of people.

- [+97 / -186]
Claims to be a "Dream World" and charges you an unreasonably high fee to get in, tells you that you're not allowed to bring in your lunchbox, and then their dirty restaurant with high prices cheats you out of more money, their employees finish their part-time shift and get services and freebies at no cost, amusement park goers are made to wait for hours. What's wrong with being "disappointed" with a place where "time is spent only waiting", has "unreasonable prices" and that I can only think is ripping me off? Instead, I'm hearing, "It's your fault for not researching beforehand." How brainwashed are you? ...Pathetic.

- [+75 / -17]
Because it's something you should know before going?? It's normal to at least research the place you're thinking of going to beforehand. And based on what you've found out, you'll decide whether to go or not. First and foremost, you can't bring in your lunchbox, but carrying it around is perfectly fine*.
*Allowed to carry around a lunchbox, not allowed to bring it into places that sell food

- [+77 / -33]
Disneyland has the image of being expensive but if you actually go, you will see that its prices aren't that different from shopping or eating out in town. The entrance fee is marked up but if you consider the quality, that's normal. There's no way you can enjoy places like amusement parks, concerts or sports games if you don't plan to enjoy it.
